    Cold Nose

How can you keep your nose warm without getting moisture build up on your TQ? I slept out last night in my back yard and woke up twice with a very cold nose. It was 29 degrees this morning when I got up.

Isn't it only fitting for a dog listener to have a cold nose?

Wear a balaclava and pull it up over your nose. Some use a buff.
Or you could order a nose warmer......https://www.etsy.com/shop/auntmartymadeit

Warm nose: I pull my cap down over the tip of my nose. If really cold, underneath the cap I pull down a buff - again to just cover the tip of my nose.

I noticed if I use a wool cap to do this, it holds more moisture than my acrylic caps do, so my nose isn't as warm I love wool! Just not in this case.

Shug's fleece bib, hung from the ridgeline will reduce moisture on your TQ. Haven't tried one yet, though.

Ok Shug. Your advice is admired by many. But the etsy site nose warmers are too funny. Not sure I could use those. The other site uses manikins and that's just creepy looking!

I always use a frost bib when temps are about 35 or lower. It doesn't take long for me to soak my TQ from my breath. I didn't want to mess with hooking it to a ridgeline, but that works. Beyond keeping your nose warm, it will keep the TQ and tarp dry (frost-free or close to it)

About 25°+ I use part of a cotton t-shirt. Just keep the neck part to put over your head and cut about a 10" wide by 12" long piece to flip up over your head or down over the TQ.

Below 25° I use a thicker piece of fleece blanket about the same size 10"x12". It also blocks the light in the morning which I like. And in these colder temps I almost always flip it over my face. You get used to it. It probably looks funny, but noone is looking! It feels soaked in the morning, but it's really not much and dries quick.

You could wear a face mask, like one used for skiing. I had an awesome turtlefur brand one that I used to ski in, and camp with, but lost it on a hike.

If you do wear a ski mask, make sure you take it off before you leave the woods. There are very few public places wearing a ski mask is acceptable. When inside of banks and gas stations you'll just have to deal with having a cold nose.

Every day is a good day.

I second the ski mask. Mine has three holes in it (one for each eye and mouth), this leaves my nose covered but allows me to breathe without getting condensation in the mask. Works perfectly.
