You can use the two rings like cinch buckles if that makes sense. Your tie out can be attached and drawn tight without knots. Genius!

mmmm, I don't know... I'm getting the feeling that you maybe kinda coulda do this but that's not the primary purpose of using two small split rings instead of one larger one, or plastic D-rings, etc..

I'd still like to hear from Paul what the initial justification was for choosing this system. he has already said that using one by itself is not strong enough, and as it is, I can't get my Metolius carabiners through them.

edit: OK I tried this using 3 different cords - 1.8mm Triptease, 1.75mm Zing-it, and 3mm Bluewater cord - and none of them worked very well. all of them required fiddling with and then a slippery half-hitch behind it, and even then, it looked very unreliable. I would call this unsatisfactory, only relied on as an last ditch emergency measure, maybe a gimmick...

What was your end decision? 11', or 12 ' Winterdream? I am trying to decide, myself. I have an 11' hammock, currently have a Yukon Outfitters Walkabout diamond shape. It is 11'10" x 9'4". Wondering if doors will make it negate the loss in length. I will go with the 15 D. Just wondering if the foot of length is worth the ounce it saves.
