Hello everybody,
I've been lurking here for about a year now, absorbing and learning a lot of new info. I started hanging about 2 yrs. ago with a Byer traveller which I've been using for day hikes. I now use a Kiri Para and a DIY UQ made from a Wallyworld jr sleeping bag, altered and adapted as an UQ by a friend of mine here on the forum [o]TTeR. It's good to have a thread injector friend. His sewing skills allowed us the opportunity to hang overnight for the first time in late November.I used a poly tarp and a MEC Habanero -7 deg.C/19 deg.F sleeping bag.Temps went down to about 0 deg.C/32 deg.F overnight. I slept 10 hrs and will never sleep on the ground again. We are now committed to an overnight in early Jan.
Thanks to Agfadoc for his wood gas stove instructions. It inspired me to make a total of 4 now. I've had a Kelly Kettle for a couple of years now but this stove is fun to build and fun to use.
I've also made the supercat and rocketcat alky stoves after reading about them here......oh and the hammock chair by Bushman of the Yukon.See what you guys have done!
Thanks to everyone here on this forum for their knowledge and ingenuity but more importantly for their generosity and good will when passing that knowledge on to newbs like me.
Thanks also to the mods for their hard work.
Merry Christmas to all.
Mick
