storage area, without a gear hammock

Hey guys, is there a way to store your gear off the ground with out using a gear hammock?
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

I've hung my pack off my hammock line before ... works OK. Usually on the head end.

I run a length of paracord round a tree and use mini karabiners to hold stuff up with.

I also run a utility line under my tarp to hang handy items off, usually in mini stuff sacs.

I like to clip stuff to my hammock suspension but don't want the weight of a bunch of binners so I ordered a bunch of mitten clips to use for this purpose. I'll let you know how they work. Big thanks to Warbonnet Guy for telling me how to find them, he uses them on his travelnet bugnet. Very light!!!

I lash together a tripod out of 2 found sticks and one of the trees I'm hanging from (usually the foot end tree as I am in a Hennessy). The pack and other gear goes up on the tripod and a poncho serves as a small annex for the gear tripod.

Most stuff is in the hammock, but the pack is attached to the supports at the footend of the hammock.

I hang gear off the head end of my hammock, from the suspension lines. More recently I've been carrying a 55 gallon heavy duty garbage bag and I throw my pack along with any extra gear in the bag and stick it on the ground under my hammock.

I always carry a couple of camp nano 23s with me (23g beaners). They're handy for various things, including hanging your pack from your hammock suspension. I also always carry a Figure 9 beaner with me. it's 14g and quite useful.

Those contractor bags they carry at Home Depot work great for that. Tougher than nails.

I have made a ruf version of a shoe/bootshelf/ bag that hangs inside on the ridge line, to keep my shoes away from the ants . spiders, stray dogs, and rain.
