    Hello from Louisville

Hello all. My wife and I are avid hikers(when time allows) and we love camping. We tried to start backpacking a year ago and between her injuries on the trail and mine we've not had much success. We've converted to Hammock Camping and love it.

With a shortened summer due to my shoulder surgery, we've decided to start cold weather camping/hanging to make up for lost time.

Hammock - eno doublenest w/bug net
HG 0 under quilt with 1 oz overstuff
    UGQ winterdream tarp
    Generic bags 30degree at best.

I have an aether 70l bag and tried packing it for the first time yesterday. No food, no clothes, no chair. Bag was full.. What are we doing wrong?

    Looking forward to hanging frequently......

So, let me get this straight....... you're sharing the doublenest? I'm guessing your generic bags are what is taking up the most space?

If the bags are synthetic then they are heavy and bulky and will take up alot of space.

Most would strongly recommend NOT sharing an ENO DN to sleep in. The name is misleading- they may be ok for a short cuddle for two but definitely DO NOT offer a comfortable night's sleep for two.

My wife and I backpack, camp and hike together as well. There are links in my signature to our blog, FaceBook page and to our YouTube page. Feel free to ask any questions you might have and I'll try to help.

    Good luck!

Welcome to Hammock Forums. Without knowing what's in your backpack it's hard to make recommendations. Do you and she both carry packs or are you carrying gear for two?

Okay.. I guess I shouldn't type early in the morning. Lol
We both have our own equipment (same gear)and both have packs. My bag is the Nemo mezzo loft. It is rather big, but unfortunately wevdv spent a lot recently on the rest. I'm guessing I'll half the bag on the back of the pack. Definitely new to this and up to the challenge to make it work.

Thanks for all the welcomes to the forum.

Haha, it's good to hear that you aren't sharing a hammock. Welcome to the forums.
