The Cuben Fiber Grizz Beaks listed for $85.00 for the Hammock Gear Cuben Fiber Hex Tarp...
...sorry if this has already been addressed, but I was curious if it was $85.00 for a pair of the grizz beaks or just for one...?

That is the price for one set (encloses one end of the tarp). Cuben fabric is pricey

So this doesn't have to be sewn on its plug and play? Or if not needed it just sit in the pack?

Glad this thread was started this is a fantastic concept.

I have a Hennessy Monsoon tarp and like the doors (it always seems to be storming on my trips...) and I especially liked the fact that the doors were removable so I could leave them at home if the weather was going to be good, in the pack if the weather was questionable, or, of course, installed if the weather was bad.
I knew I wanted to upgrade to a cuben fiber tarp and had been eyeballing the Hammock Gear cuben fiber tarp w/ doors... but once I saw these cuben grizz beaks, I bought a Hammock Gear hex cuben tarp that was in stock from Dutchware. Done deal. I'll get the 2QZQ cuben grizz beaks now soon.
I bought the tarp from Dutch too, I was willing to take my chances without doors. Now I will get one end and call it good. I had seen them but didn't really get it. It just didn't click till I saw this thread. I am going to do a AT thru hike so I wanted cf tarp but I also know I will not deploy doors very often. If I'm getting wind I can throw this on in no time on that end and still see out a bit from the other. What's the pack size of one of these? So great

A friend of mine just finished an AT thru hike (northbound) and back in August, I went up with another friend and hiked some of the New Hampshire section with him.
He has a Warbonnet hammock and a tarp with doors (don't remember the exact brand, I think it's also Warbonnet, not Cuben fiber) but for what it's worth, he said he rarely has to use the doors. In fact, there was one site we camped at during some seriously heavy winds and storms. I know for a fact that he only had one side of the doors staked down. The other side was pulled back and open. The weather really can't get much worse than it did that night and he was fine (and so was I in the Hennessy Monsoon Tarp cinched down like a cocoon). I think you might get along OK with just one set of grizz beaks.
EDIT: forgot to "quote." This post was in response to Afterparty's AT thru hike / 1 set of grizz beaks post.
EDIT AGAIN: OutandBack... that's a nice compare/contrast set of photos, thanks. This forum continues to prove its worth!
