Hammocking without trees - NoGround CarCamp

I've had a number of inquiries about a simpler and less expensive form of the NoGround poles for car camping. Since I often use a larger diameter unsupported pole as one side of my testing rig for the NoGround Trekking poles, making such an item should not be a challenge. Previously there was a technical issue (my manufacturing limits) on making such a pole in multiple parts, but that issue has been solved with some new tooling.

The idea is in the prototyping stage. Specs so far are: 3-piece shock-corded unsupported 6' (72") 1" OD aluminum pole. Folds to 26" long. Approx pole weight 1.5# for regular or 2.5# for HD. Est retail cost of $20 for regular and $30 for HD. I'm setting a recommended weight limit of 250# on the regular, and 400# on the HD. The NG trekking guyline system and anchoring system are compatible. Stouter (heavier too) anchors are also an option with the CarCamp version.

I'll post pictures when I can.

Sounds interesting. It's the price per pole or per set?

I'm looking forward to seeing these. Sounds like a great solution for my motorcycle excursions....

Would be price per pole. This would not include the guylines and anchors. Those are currently available. FWIW, I'm trying to price things at the standard material costs x2. All of these items are very labor intensive to make, and it has to be worth my while. If the product is DIYable I will also post plans for those who like to make their own stuff.

NoGround CarCamp is DIYable using heavier materials. NoGround Trekking is too advanced for all but the most technical DIYer's. My goal is to get-the-idea-out and make it available to those who don't have the time or skills to DIY also.

A quick shout out to Shug for the quick video on the NoGround Trekking.

I am extremely interested in this for kayak camping

From time to time all the ground dwellers want to be out on a large open area such as a sand bar in a river or gravel bar

Something fairly compact like this would be great!

I was eyeballing the tato stand they had a kick starter but too much bulk for my kayak (although I want that stand lol)

Very intrigued by this too. I am headed to the sagebrush of Wyoming for several days and will be on the ground, gross. Something like this could be very helpful.

Just as a friendly reminder to all. Orders and pricing questions need to go through either my FB page or my email. See below. I agree and want to comply with the HF policy on this.

So I didn't see anything specific to this setup on your facebook page. Did I just miss it (getting old, bad eyesight)..
