Oh where to hang my hat for a few nights...

OK, so I finally convinced my buddy to use one of my hammocks on our next trip. We intended on going to lost maples snp. I sadly did not think about how popular this particular Park is in the fall. Should have known this since I waited till the last minute last year too.( idk if you can tell I procrastinate alot.) So no lost maples this year again.

My question is, where is a good place with hiking trails we can hang. We're looking for something with primitive type camping, secluded, water for fishing is a big plus ,and gotta be able to hang the hammocks. Texas and I've also thought about Arkansas if it's reasonably close (6 hours or so from east texas) Any input would help. Time of year will be first part of November if it helps.

I've been hooked on reading up about Arkansas trails around the Ozarks lately. Mainly due to it being within a 5-6 hr drive from Dallas. Plenty of trail options to choose from, and perhaps new things to see for the both of you.

Also, what about Ouchita area. Even closer.

There's always Cross Timbers at Lake Texoma.

Momma and I went to the Ozarks for our anniversary this year, it's what really had me thinking Arkansas. We drove through the national forest there and it was amazing.

I'll have to check out Cross Timberstitch.

    Thanks guys.

    Edit do to horrible spelling.

Colorado bend was nice. Gorman falls is gorgeous I highly recommend it.

We did the 9 mile trek to and from the primitive area. Fun trip but our last morning we got woke up by a table saw before sunrise. Wanted more of hang my own hang away from designated areas.

    Ouachita national forest looks nice.

The Ouachita national forest has caught our attention. Any thoughts on good trails. I'm in shape, it's just of the round sorts, so something I'm not moutain climbing would be excellent.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, it's really helping g plan our last minute excursion.

I cannot recommend the Eagle Rock Loop Trail enough in the Ouachita's. Me and my two brothers did it about a year and a half ago and it was one of the most rewarding treks I've taken. It took us 3 days, and we started at the northwest TH. Look into it, we only saw two other people while we were out and I bet the trees look immaculate this time of year.

Do you think it would be ok for someone somewhat out of shape. Also what kind of weather should we prepare for around the start of November. In Texas we typically still prepare for heat. Lol.
