Can't disagree with the info overload...initially felt like my head was going to explode from all of it. I'm still digesting half of it and gradually piecing together my set up. I'm a research junkie, and tend to research stuff to death...the worst part of that is having 3-4 products of equal quality and recommendation and then deciding between them based on some minor details.

Perhaps I should get another set of the Mad Rock ones, and use the TRD stock biners for ridgelines.

Thanks for noticing. I assumed stock was OK!

Wow! I'm kinda surprised Yukon is using biners that aren't rated for climbing - in what is essentially a climbing application. Seems unwise.

No, no- there are two hammocks; the Yukon came with metal screw shackles, wich I replaced with the Mad Rock carabiners.

The Twisted Root hammock came with the low-rated biners in question.

Sorry for any confusion. In fact the Yukon comes with no suspension system, and just these heavy metal screw O-ring type things.

Just ordered 12kN replacement biners; going to use the low-rated ones for ridgelines.

Many thanks for noticing, @Five Tango.

Welcome. One tip - I'm not positive those biners are a good idea. Try these! Under 1 oz and 3400+lb climbing rated:

I am considering changing over to 4 repealing rings and 2 climbing carabiners for my suspension system using 2 inch webbing.
Any day in the Bush is better than a day at work!

I have been struggling with the tarp ridgeline, and may have finally "grokked" it - I can simply use another CamJamXT with its biner hook through one tarp eyelet (see illustration "2") and thus, be able to center the tarp where I want.

Around two trees, through one eyelet, adjust rope and lock, throw tarp over line. Voila!

    Anyway, I'll try it.

It's kind of gratifying to see someone else go through the same 'discovery' process I have done the last few months. There are a few Nite-Ize items in my rig too (replacing with Dutch bling as I can). One 'noob' to another, I think you are doing a great job!

Thank you for your use of "grokked" also, that made me smile!

    Thanks. Big Heinlein fan!

Apparently everyone's needs and uses are different, and there's a lot of ultralight travelers here. I'm somewhere in-between; used to hike way too heavy; switched to a smaller pack and less stuff for 80% of hikes. Philosophy now is "whatever I will actually use that day, regardless of weight." So less items, but if I will USE a thing, it goes.
