VIDEO...Appalachian Trail Springer to Woody Gap

As promised a few weeks ago, here's a vid of our 2.5 day'er 3 nights...

We had an incredible time like every time we get together. We all grew up friends and have know each other since pre-teen days. Once a year we try to get together and go on an adventure. This time we were fortunate to witness a few pretty cool events!...

Looks like a fun trip with some memories made with your buddies from the past. That's nice that you guys have kept this up. Did you not use any bottom insulation on the trip? How many miles total was this trip and where was the trail head that you parked in? Was it Woody Gap and you shuttled back to Springer? Thanks for sharing.

The weather suddenly changed from a forecast of high 50s low 60s at night to 70...68 at the lowest...at night. It was muggy, clammy, and not much insulation was needed. I ended up using my poncho-UQ protector mod to keep the bottom chill knocked off. Worked excellent!
We arrived at the Springer trailhead, 3 of us hiked on to Springer while the other 2 met our shuttle, Ron Brown, at Woody and parked the van there so we could walk to it on our own time. Ron drove them back to Springer and staged a water cache on the way due to one section being real dry.
It was about 22 miles total if you do it like that. You go 1 mile to Springer then flip-flop.

I started watching and when you showed the two thru-hikers who were almost done, I hoped you were going to offer them a beer. I think the beer at the summit, at their completion point was perfect!

    Great video!

Yes the beer offering was classic. I wonder how those two felt as they seemed worn down.

I asked them...it hadn't really sank in that it was OVER...the whole mission was accomplished and now its done. They were trying to figure it out.

I'll bet that is an odd feeling. Now what?

Great video, thanks for sharing it with us.
    Straight out of Clayton.

Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.

I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.
