Not sure i just like trying new things, hate making the same thing twice.

The chevrons work well, i think i would make the gaps a bit smaller if it did it again. The down doesnt move, but i feel a smaller gap is better, i made a few karo step quilts and the smaller gaps work well.

So, no differential cut between the top and bottom layers? Are you going to see the foot box together, or use snaps? Any special method of stuffing the down?

I have tried both diff and non diff it didnt really make much difference to actual warmth. I was thinking of putting side walls on but will do that with another quilt i think.

Going to put snaps on thoes tabs later. I like the versatility of being able to open it up.

I made a video on how i stuff down its not the best way but its my way

    So both sides done.
    Then for the end channels

I sew the top end and leave the bottom for stuffing.

First i trim and seal the fabric edges with a flame, to prevent freying in the channel.

Then do a tripple role, so the raw edge is away from the cord in the channel, and makes it strong even with thin fabric.

Then give it two rows of stitching.

So that the top end all done.

On the bottom end i just sew a single row of stitching leaving about 12in hole for stuffing, willl sew and roll it later.

Awesome work as usual. Thanks for taking the time to post all the steps. Its a huge help to see exactly the process of doing a very professional looking job.

I have a few questions if you don't mind:
    1) Your baffle design looks very much like a expanded karo step box design with extra diagonals. Is this to reduce the peaks and troughs that occur sometimes?
    2) Is there a possibility that you could post a pic with the sewing order of your baffles. That would be a huge help in getting my head around the complexities of the karo step.
    3) Do you do rolled seams on all four seams?
    4) In the close up pics of your seams they dont look like a complete straight stitch. There is a slight off set. Is this a very narrow zig zag or some version of the straight stitch.
    5) Lastly, based on the materials used I assume you order from RSBTR. If so could you give a price breakdown on your materials in £. Im also based in the UK and once I found out my GF has a sewing machine stashed away Ive decided to have a go at a tarp and then a quilt. Which do you think is the best place to order materials? RSBTR or Profabrics or Extremtextile?

    Thanks

So all stuffed and bottom end rolled and clipped ready to sew.

I have a few questions if you don't mind:
    ........
    Ok here goes

    1. Yes its for asthetics and and average overall maximum height.

    2. Yes will post a pic of sew order.

    3. Yes the sides are closed but the top and bottom are open for drawcords.

    4. Straight stitch is fine this is just a characteristic of my machine. You also see this effect if the hole is not quite big enough for the thread.

    5. I wont publish all the cost, but making stuff yourself is expensive its not about savings money. From USA you have duty, 20% tax, £8 handling charge, plus £25 - £40 deliver costs and the excange rate for the pound is not great. But it is the best fabrics.
To start with i would use the taffeta in extremtextil its very good and cheaper, not as breathable and a bit heaiver but i have made quilts from it just fine.
