Great pics! I've added BWCA to my list of places I want to go now, so thanks for that. At least the rock made a nice place for your pack.

Sounds/looks like a nice trip.
You didn't ask for it, but I'll offer the following:
I have two reasons for not using whoopies outdoors. 1. The minimum distance as you've found. My favorite pair of trees in my back yard is only 12' apart. 2. My whoopies have the eye at the top with the dwh on the adjustable loop. This means the adjustments tend to be high up, and at 5'4" I need things to be as low as possible.
If you want to stick with your existing huggers, I'd suggest swapping the whoopies for mule tape. My preference is for 12' 2.2 kevlar straps to a jbend at the hammock cl. For this, I like an adutchable at the tree for fine tuning once the bend/hitch is secured, but then with long spans I'm not likely to reach it anyway. At 6'3" the OP won't have this problem.
I made my tarp with two ridge tie-outs at one end. One at 11' and one at 12'. It's nice to have the option when faced with tight spaces.

Sounds like a great trip. I have a KNT12 as well, but i don't have any problems getting it set up and reasonably taught using four tie outs and a CRL. Your porch mode setup is much more elaborate than anything I've attempted so far, I'm just too lazy to go to all that trouble haha.
Another option for your distance dilemma using whoopies: you could use a whoopie on one end and either MSH your CL to your tree strap on the other or use a Beckett or similar hitch on the other to shorten your hang distance. I've used this with success in the past when that was an issue, and it still gives you the flexibility to go longer if needed.
Thanks for the report. It's always good to find out your gear works!
I was at the Boundary Waters this June, for a 1 week stay. I used my HH with the 12' Noah also. During part of my stay, there were high winds for 1 1/2 days. The extra tie outs were awesome and very needed. ham3.jpgBWCA View.jpg
I've been a Boundary Water junkie since 1960.
Having problems with your Noah Twelve? Try pitching it on the diagonal (much like your trip partner). Here are a couple of favorite BWCA pics. The first shows the Noah 12 pitched on the diagonal.
