Introducing The Loco Libre Gear Carolina Reaper

You guys got a sneak peak a few weeks back, so I guess it's time for a formal introduction. Our latest quilt is called the Carolina Reaper. It's named after the hottest pepper currently available, and it definitely lives up to it's name.

I had some basic ideas I wanted to build into the quilt, and it made me rethink a few things about quilt design. I wanted to use our chevron pattern that has proven itself to be awesome at keeping down in it's place. I also wanted this quilt to be cut differentially on both axes (yes that's spelled right, I had to look it up). The problem was that it's almost impossible to sew darts on a zig zag and get a nice neat product. I did a little thinking outside the box and came up with what amounts to a "hidden" dart system to fit the two shells together. I made a number of prototypes to determine which direction the baffles should go. While placing the baffle across the quilt ala ghost pepper looks cool, the longitudinal baffles proved to better at keeping everything put. In the end it's been a fun project to work on, and now I can focus on the next idea.

Excellent work George. That sure is a pretty quilt as I've always been drawn to those chevrons. Man these are good days we are living in the hammocking world.

Congrats. I have to at least wait until my 0° top quilt arrives before order yet another quilt from George. I'm already a part owner of the company
