Thanks everyone for the replies. I will definitely opt for the standard color material (non-camo) for the money and small weight savings.

I'm torn between the two sizes after reading the various opinions of people that all know a lot more than I about hammock camping, as I've only recently switched from the ground. I'm leaning towards the 11 ft simply because my Superfly is 11 and it works fine, but I see so many people touting the 12 ft size that I wanted to understand why it was so popular.

On an 11' hammock, the ridgeline is about 110".
An 11' (132") tarp will end up covering you with 11" to spare on each side.
A 12' tarp will give you 17" on each side.
Me? I have the 13' model. I got it lightly used here. Now that's a palace! And yes I have to hang it higher, but then I'm 6'2" tall so I'm good with that.

I'm not sure if HG will do this, but my DIY xenon tarp is 12' with a second ridgeline tie-out @ 11' . It may make the doors hang kinda funky, but we hang with a spreader bar @ the head end so they don't close anyway. It's nice to have the option. I'm sure the diff in weight in a cf tarp is negligible.

Well after discussing here and talking to HG, I went ahead and ordered a 11 ft green WP and it should arrive before my next trip! Thanks for all the advice. A couple setup questions if I may:

As far as tie outs go, do you guys use any perimeter tie outs other than the 4 corners and doors? Anyone staking out the perimeter tie outs along the long sides?

Also I plan to add loops with Dutch tarp fleaz to the corner tie outs for ease of staking, and for my silnylon tarp I use shock cord loops for this. I understand its not as important for CF tarps to use shock cord relief, tho I don't quite understand why. Would it be better to just use Zing-it loops? Or can I still use shock cord?

People use shock cord on silnylon because it stretches when it gets wet. In theory, shock cord serves as a tarp tensioner to take up the slack when it gets wet. However, I don't find that the shock cord is necessary with silnylon. I'd rather the silnylon get wet then I can restake as necessary.

Since cuben fiber doesn't stretch when wet, shock cord isn't necessary. Personally, I don't use Dutch tarp fleaz or any other hardware on my tie-outs. My guylines are larksheaded onto the tarp, then I use a marlin spike hitch on the stake. It can't get any easier than that - no hardware necessary.

Thanks for the explanation Silvr, that was easy to understand and makes perfect sense. I will stick with Zing-it.
