The proper use of a Dutch Clip video

I made a video showing how to safely use a dutch clip but it also pertains to other attachment points. When done correctly, there is little pressure on the point where the clip meets the webbing.

    Peace Dutch

Thanks Dutch, I think that helps make things even more clear for dunderheads such as myself!

+1! (Don't feel badly, Alaska Chad, I've been using my Dutch clips incorrectly, too, for ages! Mending my ways starting today! Totally makes perfect sense now that I've seen Dutch's video!) THANKS, DUTCH!!!

Just got home after using my hammock for a month and noticed my webbing being somewhat frayed. This is an eyeopener, because setting up the Dutch Clip "wrong" gives the appearance of a "snug" setup around the tree. Dutch, thanks for the clarification.

Good job. It's always nice to get more safety info out there for the many new hangers.

Hope to see you at HangCon 2017.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

I have been doing the exact opposite as Dutch suggests. He is correct that the way he does it is less stressful on the webbing and buckle. I do it to move the hammock to the back of the tarp leaving more room on the side of the tarp I get out on. I do the same thing with the tarp only in the opposite direction moving the tarp forward. That leaves the hammock ridge line hanging not directly below the tarp ridge line and gives me more living space on the side of the hammock I get out on.

Couldn't you just reverse your process, and move the tarp to the other side?
Homer: Sir, I need to know where I can get some business hammocks.

Hank Scorpio: Hammocks? My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that? Hammocks!
