    Hello From St. Paul Minnesota

    Good day.

Male....42...Minnesota born and raised. I like the outdoors (the big blue room) and most everything that comes with it. I'm an avid fly-fisherman and I enjoy roaming the prairie with my brothers and shooting ditch parrots.

I recently thought maybe camping/hiking with a hammock might be nice. Didn't know anything about it three weeks ago...and now...I've fallen down the rabbit hole. It's good for me tho...'doin research, getting excited about something new that I can share with my Son as a part of his Boy Scouts experience. It feels good...it feels right...my wife is already annoyed with me.

Then, as we all did, I stumbled across Shug's videos (I think he lives right down the road from me) and dove right in and smiled. See ya at Har Mar buddy!

Anyway, This forum has been invaluable for research and suggestions. I love seeing everyone's philosophy come to life in their setups, and learn about all of their little gear tweaks.

I eagerly await posting n00b questions and bothering you all with questions that I could easily answer by utilizing the 'Search' function at the top.

Welcome from SE Minny!!! We have some of the best hammock camping available in beautiful BWCA so take full advantage. My last trip, I set up my hammock right next to the lake so had that view each morning while those in the tent had to walk to see what I had available in my swing. Beautiful country we live in.

    X2 on the screen name.

Hello from Cambridge, MN! I got my first hammock this past spring. I've found lots of places to hike and hang fairly close but can't wait to head up north this fall!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Just got back from a Cub Scouting camp out with the boys. One of the other dads and I got to talkin' about hammocks, and I mentioned that I've been eyeing the Warbonnet Blackbird. He pointed to his sack on the floor and said, "I brought two Blackbirds with me."

He was kind enough to let help me with his hang setup, and see how he's rigging his hammock, fly, etc. Got to fart around with some of his Dutch gear, whoopie slings, etc. It was fantastic. The Blackbird fit me like a glove (5'9" 165lbs). I didn't sleep in it, as we had a lot of rain, and I wasn't geared properly, but man...I almost dozed off just laying in it for 3 minutes.

I also brought my ENO Doublenest that my wife bought me, and had a nice time relaxing during the day. The boy hopped in and declared, "Dad...this is pretty comfy."

The wife is interested in learning to sew (we've had a sewing machine for years, but never touched it), and she saw some of the DIY underquilt projects and is hyped to make me one, along with some stuff sacks and other nick-nacks.

Looking forward to meeting some of you this spring! Maybe a fly fishing/hang in SE MN or Western WI for early season trout?
