I am planning on hiking this soon.

I drove up Signal & located the trail head yesterday.

    Any advice?

No advice but I can say that the Suck creek is about as pretty of a creek as I've seen in years. Large boulders and that classic babbling brook on a grand scale look. How far is this hike? Looks to be around 12 miles?

That sounds about right..Handyman said it was 3.3 miles from Lawson Rock Overlook to Prentice Cooper Trail Head.

9-10 miles from the Rainbow Lake Wilderness Trail Head to the Lawson Rock Overlook.

    Diet Food Wheel

    • Chicken
    • Eggs
    • Tuna
    • Fish
    • All Meat

    • Parmesan Cheese
    • Sugar Free Marinara Sauce
    • Spaghetti Squash used instead of noodles
    • Frequent Cheat food: Subway - White Flatbread , Chicken Teriyaki, Pepperjack Cheese, Lettuce, Tomatato, Pickle, no condiments), Jalapeño Chips, Diet Coke

No Bread, No Rice, No Beans, No Corn, No Taters
    Only Water, Coffee, Diet Coke.
Only Apples for fruit and sweet tooth craving (had 2 today already) and after I am done typing this I will have another

Your trip layout is what we did in that video. Awesome hike. Like TrailSlug stated, Suck Creek Gorge is pretty and will have an awesome, long suspension bridge to cross the creek. The climb out can be steep but it has switchbacks so not the worst. I will say when you get to the mushroom rock start looking for the trail to the left. We kept going and went down a four-wheeler/service dirt trail and it went straight down the mountain (rough on the knees). It still met at the bottom at Suck Creek Campsite but the real trail down is easier haha. Oh and be careful crossing the road ha. Cars flying down the mountain. You'll love the hike. Lots of views and some waterfalls. While your there check out Snoopers Overlook, cool perspective of the TN river. Good luck!

Did you park your truck in the Cumberland Trail Parking Lot?

I am thinking about using Uber to take me back to the Rainbow Lake Wilderness Trail head.

Overnight Parking is not allowed @ the Rainbow Lake Winderness Trailhead. I called the Signal Mountain Recreation Department to verify.

    http://signalmountaintn.gov/recreation/

However, they did tell me you could park at the city hall and tell the police you were leaving your car there overnight. (2 mile walk to the TH however)

I called the Cumberland Trail Conference and they are going to update their information.

Hiked to Edwards Point yesterday with my son.

Went the wrong way and added 2.5 extra miles but we finally made it back to Edwards Point.

Took my hammock but there was no place to hang at the point unfortunately.

So this afternoon I decided to hang my Trail Lair between two Bradford Pears that live on each side of my sidewalk.

I ordered a pizza to my hammock and let the neighbours wonder what was the dealio.
