Just found out last week that Bee-keeper (Mike) will be joining me at HangCon. I updated the sign up sheet. Some of you may recognize the name from my Adirondack video. While we're there we were thinking that since the Florida Trail is semi close to the area, we may try to hit some trail miles. Does anyone know how close the trail comes to Doe Lake? Also, does anyone have any trail maps of the area, with access points (parking areas)? It's tough to find info for this trail online. Anyone able to help out?

The closest FT trailhead is about 10 minutes from Doe Lake by car. You can go to my webpage, www.lilricky.com I have GPS tracks for the Florida Trail. If you don't have any GPS track software, I would recommend using Garmin's Basecamp software. Also, a good Florida topo to use with Basecamp can be found here. All you have to do is install both Basecamp and the topo file, then load one of my GPS tracks from my webpage. You can then select the section of the Florida Trail you want and print it out, or of course transfer it to a GPS. I know Floridahanger is organizing a hike on the Florida Trail during the hang.

First Report on the weather shows highs in the mid 70s and lows in the mid 50s all weekend with only a small chance of rain...hopefully those temps drop some, i was looking forward to that icy cold morning

Not sure if i'll be able to make it out but I'd love to be there. All depends on a scheduling conflict I have.

I was wondering, is it rude to ask to try out someones personal hammock? I've never been to one of these and I wasn't sure of proper etiquette when it comes to this sort of thing.

It's not rude and some will even insist that you give their hammock a try. You should be prepared as a courtesy to remove your shoes first though. Also I'm sure several vendors will have their hammocks set up for you to try.

Also, you want to ask permission before sitting or laying in someone's hammock.
