4th Annual Stokes State Forest Hang
    October 21-23
    Steam Mill campground sites T216 & T218

    A Guide to Stokes
    Park Trail Map - North
    Park Trail Map - South

Site Fees $10/person for the weekend.
Food cost TBD (need to get closer to the date and get an accurate attendee count)

Currently Bring Your Own Food. That may change depending on interest level.

    No Pets
No Alcohol (it's a Jersey thing)

An excellent site with a babbling brook nearby. Local trout fishing available. (Note: Big Flat Brook has sections that are limited to fly fishing and license w/ trout stamp is required, check Fishing Regs for more info)

    SignUp Sheet click here

Parking is at the campsite. There is overflow parking on the other side of the road opposite the campsites.
Bathroom facility is a cinderblock building with pit toilets and running water. Improved facilities are available a short 5 minute drive to the lower campsites by the lake.

Day hiking is available on numerous trails and is usually organized at camp by those interested.

If there is enough interest and donations, there could be a mini raffle or item giveaway.

The spreadsheet shows the cost of the sites, which is approximately $10/person for Fri/Sat/Sun. (sqidmark and I are each out of pocket $50 for the sites, we will collect at camp or you can paypal me, PM for paypal info)

Food is currently Bring Your Own but there is room on the spreadsheet to indicate that you will contribute to the group, in which case the cost for the weekend will be adjusted accordingly. (this is a level of interest thing and will be dialed in as we get closer to the date)

I've subscribed to the thread, but won't know for sure if I have that weekend free until we get closer to the date.
I had site 218 for 3 days over Labor Day weekend and it was perfect weather. Great spot for sure.
Depending on how many people lock in, cars will be a concern.

    Thank you.

Note: we do not need any more sites, these 2 site (T216/T218) will accommodate any reasonable level of interest

Yeah, like that's gonna stop a noob from booking a site. While I agree with your assessment (with both sites, we're good for probably 40 hangers), some noob is still probably gonna book another site. So rather than discourage them, why not just tell them they pay for it on their own, that it is not part of the group fees and won't be reimbursed?

Oh, and you still have to pay your share of the group site fees even if you book your own site!

Hasn't been much of a concern in the past. Isn't there a place to park out on the road for overflow? I see a big P on the map by the entrance on the Reserve America map. This map it's not so clear.

Hey, if you're planning to attend and want to help organize anything including parking, we could use the help.

There is a smallish parking lot on the other side of the road and we have stacked cars in the front end of the site. Generally speaking it hasn't been too crowded in the past and we've had room for all the vehicles. Occasionally we've had to jockey cars a bit. Here's hoping the level of interest and attendees creeps up enough for it to be a serious concern.

Organize parking? I think I'll pass on that duty. As you mentioned before, I'm a maybe though probably a yes, but I just have to see how my work schedule plays out.

I'll provide my usual assistance in organizing. In all likelihood, we'll have some hangers with extensive experience organizing group hangs, and it'll be a no-brainer. I think the NJ gang is past the point of disorganized, overly expensive hangs and we can now use our expertise to have enough food, hang spots, etc., without going overboard. We know exactly how to avoid one person getting stuck for hundreds of dollars in expenses, and how to spread the expense among the attendees.

In other words, if you want to bring a $25 pie for dessert, it's probably not going to be reimbursed as a group expense!
