    You forgot Midnight Snack...
It is a very alert, active sheep, with a stylish, lively carriage.

I use a Juki & Pfaffs w/ assorted attachments, and have serviced lots of vintage machines. Any questions?

Don't need to, I've got Tracker!
I was going to contact the Forest Service about dropping off some firewood but now that I know the trakkers will be there, the trees will drop in fear and process themselves in submission to the Trakker!!

    Spreadsheet updated.

The first post in the thread covers some of the info (at least now it does) and there is additional info in the signup spreadsheet. (also in the first post)

Yeah, it's easier to use in Chrome instead of the Sheets App from Google

    Where's the rule book?
As a rule, the first post in a planning thread contains the guidelines and details are fleshed out in the thread with critical updates being added to the first post.

Essentially, no alcohol, if children are present, please keep that in mind. If you like to crash early, better to camp a little further away from the campfire (and there's plenty of opportunity to do that) as folks like to sit around the fire and talk until the wee hours.

    What do I bring?
Hammock camping gear, stuff you would normally bring to camp for the weekend. Folding chair is always a good idea. Snacks, some food to share with the group, folding table although there are picnic tables there. If you think you might need to borrow anything, just post up, there are plenty of folks willing to share.

    What expense should I expect?
Bottom line, approx $10/person to cover site fees.
Additional fee (no more than $10) to cover food but that is still TBD based on getting a better estimate on attendee count.

Expenses fall into two groups, site fees which in this case are $100 all in to be shared among 10+ people ($10 each) and food, which at this point is bring your own unless the spreadsheet really starts to fill up, in which case it could add another $5-$10 for the weekend. You won't spend more than $20 all in.

Is it a hike in? (hoping)
Nope, it's car camping. However, a trail does run by the camp along the river and if you want to park your car somewhere else down below in another section of the park and make a trek, that is certainly doable.

    Day hikes?
Absolutely, many trail options. This is usually an adhoc thing handled at camp.

Coordinates for the sites & parking?
Parking is at camp. The location is Steam Mill Campground in Stokes State Forest. The intersection of Sunrise Mountain Rd (which becomes Crigger Rd) and Grau Rd gets you within 100 yards of the camp entrance. If you want GPS coordinates, I'll have to check on that. I have it marked in my GPS.

Any other details you can share?
This is a great opportunity to check out gear in use by experienced hammock campers. A real opportunity for folks new to this style of camping.

I have a buddy who I have been trying to convert to the trees, but he isn't sold..yet. is there room for him to drop a tent?
Always room for ground pounders and yes, there's plenty of room. It's pretty rocky up there so it'll take a little recon to find that cherry spot but certainly there is room.

    Some of what you will find at Stokes (from the website link in the first post);

    Sunrise Mountain
The crest of Sunrise Mountain is one of the most frequently visited sites in Stokes State Forest. The mountaintop provides a breathtaking view at an elevation of 1,653 feet above sea level. The thin soil and harsh climate characteristic of Sunrise Mountain is a difficult environment in which few plants can survive. Mountain laurel, wild blueberry, pitch pine and scrub oak are among the natural vegetation found throughout the area. The pavilion at the summit was built in the late 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The Appalachian Trail runs along the ridge.

Please note the hours for the Sunrise Mountain parking lot are 8am-8pm. These hours are in effect from Friday, June 10 through Labor Day.

Tillman Ravine Natural Area (525 acres)
This cool evergreen forest of eastern hemlock is ideally suited for the steep slopes carved by the rushing waters of Tillman Brook. Several trails wander through this spectacular ravine, providing views of waterfalls and ferns clinging to rock crevices. The area is home to the threatened barred owl and other endangered species.
