You would think so too, but the lash it slips too easily. Believe me, I tried a whole bunch of knots before settling on using a clove hitch around a carabiner.

Yup the carabiner worked splendidly. Ideally I would have spliced it, but did not have the chance before my trip. Now I'm back and ready to splice the begeesus out it.

I realise that this is long after this discussion, but just wanted to thank that this question was asked and thank the mini carabiner solution. It’s exactly what I was after. Many thanks!

A few Alpine Butterfly knots would shorten the length and be functional as well.

If you do indeed need 15" off of it, send it to me.. I'll shorten and resplice it for you.

With that much excess, it could likely be converted to an adjustable ridge line.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

I had a small leftover biner from something. Only about an inch long. A few wraps and it's done! Functions as a holder for my pillow, or whatever else I may think of.

The great thing about a carabiner is it is instantly adjustable by the number of wraps. When you have I idea what you like you can use an adjustable whoopie ridge line to replace the carabiner for long term use. PS: I went longer instead of shorter on my DH Sparrow and WBBB XLC ridgelines HYOH.
