What timing...I just did the same thing. Bought a hanging scale and a digital kitchen scale with the same intentions....lighten that load! Always trying to balance comfort vs. weight...but at least now, I know the actual measurements.
Nowadays I obsess about every ounce, but I remember my first hiking trip on the AT way back in the 80's I carried an entrenching tool (folding shovel that weighs about 3 lbs.). Don't know why I thought I needed that thing.
My enjoyment of being in the woods is inversely proportional to the weight on my back.
Grams and wallets are connected. The lighter the gear is in grams, the lighter the wallet is. There is of course a multiplication factor with the wallet though. lol
Happy Trails to one and all.
Enjoy the outdoors wisely and elevate your perspective.

You know your at rock bottom when your weighing different brands of TP for your hike, and if it's not on your list I discount it all together no matter how great the number sounds. I don't buy the whole rocks and leaves thing.

Hey PC&C, what was your load-out weight for your recent solo? Do you feel like weighing your gear helped you save some lbs on your trip?
