I work for a large US company and talk with people at head office a lot (the joys of global IT). I always have a silent chuckle when they call them rooters instead of routers.

Anyway, hammick for me though I'd never thought about it before.

For me it is a shwa sound like in "the" (as long as you aren't someone who says it like "thee.")

No joke, my friend's entire local family ( Mom, uncle, older brother) say Hammerk. Like Hammer with a "k" at the end. He doesn't say it like that, in fact we both say Hammuck, and when we get to talking fast it sounds like hammick.

Ham-muck. I've met a couple of people who can't seem to say the word at all. One of the Hammecks once kept calling it a ham-MOCK and he couldn't be stopped.

This. Closer to 'muck' than 'mick'. Certainly not 'mock'. Now, I get a kick out of people who don't know that Oregon is pronounced 'ory-gun', not 'or-a-gone'.

This is how Grinder pronounces it. It's almost as in using 2 words, or a very short separation in the syllables.

I'm in the camp of "between ick and uck".
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
