    Stone Mountain State Park

Hello all! Just looking for any advice on the backpacking trail ("Widow's Creek Trail") in Stone Mountain State Park? Planning on doing an overnight-er this weekend. Thanks in advance!

I can't speak about the trails there at Stone Mtn. SP, but the facilities are VERY well maintained. During my last car camping trip up the BRP, we rolled in late one evening and rolled out the next morning. All of the park employees were very friendly and helpful ... it put the Ga SPs to shame.

    Enjoy your trip.
Doughton Park is nearby as a backup but it does require a (free) permit, which they will mail to you if you call them or they will leave it at the ranger station to pick up. And we found out they do check for the permit.

Thanks for finding the old link for me. I had to read the post and watch the video again... That was a fun hang. Hope to see you at Uwharrie / Yates place.
