    Twisted Root Big Mozzi Review

I wanted to take a minute to give a quick review of the Twisted Root Big Mozzi hammock I picked up on woot not too long ago for $30.

    http://sport.woot.com/offers/twisted...=sp_cnt_wp_7_1

I wanted to compare it to the Yukon Outfitters mosquito hammock I got on woot last year since they look identical from the photos.

The biggest difference is the size. The Yukon outfitters hammock I have is 8'9" long which proved to be a little cramped for me. The Twisted Root is 10' long which ended up being much more comfortable for me (I'm 5'10")

Next is the material. The Twisted Root is a diamond ripstop that is thinner, lighter, and more comfortable than the Yukon. I found the material to be far superior in my opinion.

Third (and less important) is the suspension hardware. The Twisted root suspension is a thinner rope and a lighter aluminum carabiner than the steel screw lock D ring that comes with the Yokon. I changed out the suspension on mine for whoopie slings but the included suspension would be fine.

The final comparison (and probably least important) is the shock chord for the mosquito net. The length of the included shock chord for the Twisted Root mosquito net allowed me to go around the trees that I hang my hammock on even if they are quite far apart. The YO shock chord was only long enough to stretch to the suspension so the two halves of the net were close together leaving the middle to hang down near my face.

All this being said, I think it is a great value for a hammock with an integrated mosquito net.
I have tested it in my yard and took it out for a quick overnight on Saturday and it performed well and was very comfortable. I did add a ridgeline, but it is on the outside of the mosquito net.

Thanks for this. Would it be possible to get an actual weight of the hammock/bug netting without suspension?

Thanks for the Woot info, but I am wondering what the weight is without the suspension.

I don't have an accurate scale at the moment, so I can't give you a good weight on it. I will see if we have a postage scale at work and let you know.

I weighed the included suspension and it came out to 2.9 oz. If the weight from the manufacturer is accurate then the setup would weigh 21.26 oz without the included suspension. I don't really want to un-thread the whoopie slings from the end channel and remove my cheap parachord ridgeline at the moment. My setup is 22.5 oz.

In for one, for the same exact reasons! (Have the Yukon, want longer).

Planning on a custom, but not for three more months (Christmas). Best of hiking-hanging is coming Oct.-Nov.-Dec.

    Thanks.

Bumping an old thread, but woot has them on sale today for $10.... which is a pretty crazy price.

I picked up 2 to use as loaners for my nieces and nephews.

Every day is a good day.

I won't make a new thread, since this can be the go to thread for anyone interested in this hammock. I was able to try the hammock out on a quick overnight.

All I can say, is for $10, I wish I bought 10 of them to give away. It's a fantastic hammock. If it was $50 or more, I'd have to say it's a decent hammock, but on sale for $10 it's a steal.

One thing to note, I ordered 2 hammocks, a solid green color, and a camo pattern called "big flower camo". The fabric on the solid color hammock is very nice. It's super soft and has a nice diamond ripstop. The camo one though has a much stiffer fabric, and has no riptstop. The fabric almost feels a differemt weight as well. Its a veru cool pattern, but the fabric just isn't that great.

I made a quick youtube vid if anyone is interested.

Every day is a good day.
