    Hammock Fabric Weight Rating Chart

We put together all our suggested weight ratings in an easy to reference chart. Neat huh?

Note that these numbers are based on personal testing and feedback from customers/vendors using the materials. Have a great weekend everyone. We're off to Asheville tomorrow. Hope everyone is getting out!

    Thanks

Thanks for the info! I have an old version, but it is probably 6 years old and seriously outdated. Thanks to the research and testing that you and the other vendors do, the changes in fabric over these years have been tremendous.

    Thanks for putting this together!

Just so I'm clear, are you calling Layer#1 the inner or outer layer? I'm trying to reconcile the benefits of using a lighter weight fabric for the outer layer.

I am guessing layer 1 is outer layer as you want to see the outdoorink fabric

Layer 1 is outer layer, yes. We'll get that labeled.

I'm curious what factors are cosidered in the weight chart. For example, how much headroom is built in, as in a fabric that is given a 200 lb rating and is sat in with a careless drop by someone who weighs 180 lbs - is that likely to rip the hammock? or is this sort of factored in for real world use/misses? I guess I'm asking if this is calculated for static or dynamic loading.

Also, I've long been curious about if a hammocker approaches the upper end of a fabrics weigh recommendation, if the comfort level drops off. Say one weighs 180 lbs and so has the choice of a 200lb fabric - will the comfort level be better with a 275 fabric - or is that of no consequence. Great to have a chart like this, btw, I'm newly inspired to try my hand at DYI hammocking.

    Ignore this...

I really appreciate this chart. Would love to see the weight ratings for the fabrics listed in the double layer sections listed as if for single layer use.

    Nevermind... I'm an idiot...
