Would this work technically 45deg hammock

So starting a new thead to not hijack another.

Basically looking at a bridge hammock with no bars and two trees.
    Would this work?
Just amseel no poles precision lengths spliced.
    Fixed ridge line.

Its kind of how you flat lay in a gathered end but without all the fabric just amsteel and using it to create the sag.
As you lay in it the tension creates the fixed width. Not sure if you would need a mid line also for the sides.

I can see there would be a compression force to basically squash the head and foot end together, but your body basically acts as an incompressable pole. ?????????
Maybe less than 45 deg would reduce the compression force?

It wouldnt really take shape until you were lying in it, and dont think it would work as a seat?
    Tippy yea probably.
Yea i know its kind of weird.
Cross between a gathered, bridge and 90deg hammock, maybe its an offspring that only a mother could love
    Crazy or not ?????

Seriously though... not sure what 45* would do for you that 90* doesn't do in this case.

I do have a working 45* and a 60* gathered end (doesn't require a pad) but I wouldn't call them bridges... more of a Amok without all the Dramor.

Interesting, the amok is more a 90 with a lot of attachment point. But i wanted to create that sag like a bridge. I might mock one up with cheap fabric see what happends.

I don't think that will work at all...What is going to keep it spread open from head end to foot end? Normally opposing forces from the tree and suspension do this, an alternative (in theory) would be poles on the long sides of the hammock you have drawn, but that results a much much heavier pole set. Your body is not going to be able to serve that purpose, i am certain of that part.

I think the forces at the ends will be too great and thats why 90 deg have lots of suspension lines going to all points along the edge

Exactly, with this concept there is nothing to hold/support the entire middle section of the user's body, only the very ends.

The amok is basically a bunch of arcs all set up so that the flat point at the center is roughly level. The pad supplements the shape to help keep it spread.

Not sure what you mean by "sag like a bridge"...

    Either way- have fun!
The life of a tinkerer, lol. Where even totally ridiculous failures are good times well spent.

Not sure if that will work- but look up a wire pastry blender if it doesn't.

that's basically the design of the Amok... each arc gets progressively bigger as it fans from the center so that when weighted across the center they are all more or less level.

This way the pad and user are really only spreading each arc apart- What you were thinking was that you'd basically put your head on a strap and your ankle on another and then "plank" to hold them open. Good fer yer abs I suppose!
