Southern Ontario Backpackers / Canoe Campers

    Hi,

I'm an amateur to the back country game (I can still handle myself reasonably well in the bush though) and I live in Sarnia, ON but am frequently found in Chatham, Windsor and London (as well as all points in between). I guess I'm writing here because I'm looking to expand my network of people I can go on trips with and am hoping to connect with some fellow non-sketchy hammockers / Backpackers / canoe campers, etc. to go on trips with once in a while. I have a really off and on work schedule where I'm laid off for varying stretches of time so I'm sometimes available to make mid-week trips (which is best because the parks are far less busy during the work week).

If you're interested, shoot me a message and we can hook up on Facebook / Instagram to feel each other out and see if there is a fit and then move from there.

Also if there is an established group that I missed when I was searching through the forums, let me know and maybe I can connect with you!

    All the best,

    Josh

    Greetings Josh

There is a rather sizeable group in the Southern and Central Regions of Ontario that go by the name EGL (Eastern Great Lakes). There is another active thread in this forum for a planned canoe trip to Algonquin Provincial Park at the beginning of October.

As for people in your immediate area, the user Bubba is in the London area of Ontario.

    Cheers

Awesome, thanks! I'll check it out.

Let me just say that I am incredibly jealous every time I see a canoe and up there where the lakes are so plentiful, I can't imagine!

Oh Canada. Our home and native land.

We have an amazing country. One you can spend a lifetime exploring.

There is a guy on YouTube (user: kchappycamper) who argues that the Canadian flag should have had a canoe in the centre instead of a maple leaf. It's too late to change things now, but he makes an interesting point.

I would agree, how about a faint image of canoe and kayak inside the maple leaf?
