I'm a huge fan of Dacron planer board line for tarp tie outs. 150lb. Easy to handle. Nice Colors, cheap, splicable and does not absorb water.

Yep, you may notice in the pictures all the pretty green lines on everything, the tarp alone has continuous loops, Prusiks and a few others all from your suggestion using the planer board line.
I'm also thinking of getting some 200lb also.

I have a huge tarp rip too unfortunately, the business that I bought it from a macCat tarp is out of business the company that you bought your tarp from is it the little shop Of tarps/hammocks ?
