A big piece of tyvek, a sizable foam pad, a hammock w/ overcover and a couple hiking poles or sticks and you can bivy any hammock.

I've always preferred a tarp to a tent but I understand the many folks that do not feel that way. The perceived security, privacy of a tent versus a tarp thing I think is a decision or data point, the all in one is another.

Folks that hike alpine will be weight conscious and the all in one seems less attractive to my mind.

Two man tent is alright but then it's a one person hammock, not gonna check both boxes on a single trip, so that's a bit of a miss to my mind as well.

We'll see how the market plays out, the KS did "ok" but curious to see if this actually winds up on the shelf anywhere.

"trail and error", I like that.

I do not understand the whole notion of a floating tent hammock thingie?

As a tent it is heavy ? But many users who kayak or canoe camp or car camp even may not mind the weight. Or even simple overnight short backpacking trips?

As a hammock - you seem to lose "porch mode"

I asked on the Fb page and they claimed it could go in porch mode but I fail to see how?

You have to also add weight for a pad or underquilt (they sell one to fit this system I'm told)

Still - it is kinda interesting. I just am not sure I understand the draw really.

Maybe if it sleeps comfy enough you can have a versatile setup to se for solo trip or if a friend or spouse comes you can use as a tent...

I think that the problem is we are , for the most part, hammockers not tent people. We are looking at it as a hammock than can be a tent. No appeal there for us. If you were a tent person you might find the idea of a tent that can also double as a hammock to be apealing. I gave up on tents after I started sleeping in a hammock. Bug protection, weather protection, great views, and most of all , comfort, the hammock has them all. Some folks love their tents though and would rather be in one. To each their own.

I cannot fathom the "what if I have to go to ground?" concept. I'm never ever again going camping where there are no trees!

Seriously. Do people not research where they will be backpacking/camping? Hammock people will certainly know if their trip has any sections devoid of trees and will plan accordingly. I don't see this as a solution for established hammock people at all. It seems more likely to catch the curiosity of tent campers...hey look my tent can turn into a novelty hammock! This is definitely for the casuals. The serious backpacking ground dwellers will have their tarp+groundsheet or cuben fiber tents already...they won't give a contraption like this a second look. It has that college car camping vibe to it...but even then this product is redundant...

I'm just analyzing the product. As someone mentioned earlier it's trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist.

    *edit*
I'm all about HYOH. This product is more about PYOG though. Pound Your Own Ground.

Hey it may exist but just not for you. I guess we'll see if it gets funded and if so then it may actually exist? Who knows.

I find it interesting. There are times when it might be nice to go to ground in a TWO person tent when camping......

Seems like a product that's trying to be something for everybody. And it probably doesn't do any of its tasks notably well.
Hammock dimensions are 50" x 100" and it weighs 1.5lbs. (without stuff sack or the rain fly).
