Ralph Bice is one of my favourites on the perimetre with only two short, easy portages. The two campsites on the west side of the island are prime & you can walk between them.

I have never been to Ralph Bice. I'd be up for that if it was a weekend I could make. And if it's not it might be up for consideration for my holidays although I was kind of thinking I'd like to fly fish for brookies on the Oxtongue for nostalgia sake.
Due to work weekends are out
But if anyone is thinking of staying a few extra days ( perhaps to Monday or Tuesday )
I could move some things and make it out ( hopefully )

Depending which weekend is eventually selected (only one I can't do us the first), that is a distinct possibility. Or going up a day or two early ... did that in the Spring & it secured the prime Rain Lake campsite for the group so worked out well.

Depending on the weekend selected, i will most likely go in early 1 o2 days.
And/or stay a few after
No signs,no fees,no rules, nobody. My kind of campsite.
I'm in for Oct 15-16 (with a good possibility to stay to Monday Oct 17)
I'll be running solo in a Kayak ( at this time I don't think Liam is coming but that could change )
Cheers
Sounds like October 14-16 works for you guys. It'll likely be a couple of weeks past the height of the autumn colours, but that's fine.
Red Kanu's island sites sound nice. We've paddled by them quite a few times.
Edit: I recently been watching a fair bit of the "My Self Reliance" YouTube channel and that Shawn fellow passes by and has camped on many of my old haunts. You should check out his Algonquin playlist.

Hi Connie
Looks like it's a little less than 6km total. There are 2 short portages - 135m and 295m
I'm planning to use a 10'kayak ( might be a canoe if Liam joins ! )
As long as your gear can fit

Hi Connie,
You managed well on the Madawaska, so other than tracking, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Have you considered bringing a kayak paddle with you? I've been using one on those long crossings and on windy days and love it. A little wetter than I refer with all of the drips, but c'est la vie!
