    PA>2016 Fall MAHHA Pre-hike(s)

Feel free to post your own pre-hike plans is this thread if you want.

I'm planning an ambitious hike into PGFSP arriving on the Thursday before official festivities commence.

Because there is no camping between Alec Kennedy (1117.1) and Darlington (1135.3) shelters except for the often noisy (trains) Backpacker's Campsite at Yellow Breeches Creek (1120.6), I've planned the miles to hit the Doyle and Rt. 11 in Carlisle. There are plenty of opportunities to jump in somewhere along the way.

As long as my back is not acting up, this is my plan. I can also shorten the trip by starting in Duncannon, probably north of the river, and chancing the Yellow Breeches campsite. I'm not sure how hammock-friendly it is. I'll lock in my plans in a few weeks. I plan to use a combination of Greyhound Bus and Uber to get to the trailhead from north Jersey.

    Anyone interested?

Updated schedule. Skipping stay at the Doyle and hiking 4 miles further to Cove Mtn. Shelter.

I did from way North into Spring MAHHA and I can't spare that weekend or ben and I'd be in! Peace, Two Tents & ben
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.

Maybe you should ask Ben what he thinks.

Well, I'll be starting on Saturday at PA325. I'll probably get there about midday. I'm taking a Greyhound bus to Harrisburg then an Uber ride to the trailhead.
The only thing that I might do differently from the schedule above is try getting into PGFSP on Wednesday and stay a night at the Ironmasters hostel. I guess it depends on trail conditions and weather.

Double check I think the hostel might be closed for the season.

I missed this thread, I had posted on my wish to hike the Penn Mar to Caledonia section and got no replies, but then a few days ago I saw Canoetrip said he was willing to shuttle, so I reached out to him. WooHoo, I'm back to hiking Thursday and Friday.
