    Kevin,
I first used it without a ridgeline and did not really experience any problems, of course I am careful about hanging it to get a good hang angle and sag up front. DD recommends a tighter hang but I have found just for myself the typical 30 degree works fine. I have since however added a ridgeline, more so for hanging things that anything else. I only use it when I flip the hammock over to use it without the bug net (which you can do), then the ridgeline actually serve to help set the sag. I made the ridgeline from zingit with a carabiner so I can detach or attach as needed. I find the DD very comfortable and I side sleep in it easily. I'll have the DD there in Nov. if you don't get one before then and want to check it out.

    Blessings,
    Semo

FYI....if the bottom entry is your only issue with it, there is a seamstress who will sew up the bottom entry and sew in a side zipper. Her work is excellent and reasonably priced. If you google "2QZQ Hammock" you'll find the page.

Welcome to the forum. I grew up in St Louis. You can tell what part from my user name. Graduated from Ritenour in 1966. Camped in Hawn before it was a state park. Also have a lot of good memories from overnight floats on the Huzzah.

You are DEFINITELY from St. Louis if you mention which High School you attended! :-)

A couple of weeks ago I bought a double layer hammock from Dutchware, and a Noah 12 tarp. I took them out last weekend, and am fairly happy with the setup. I expect as I get more experienced, I'll figure out how to tweak things for a better lay. I also treated a set of clothes with permethrin, and used an couple kinds of repellents. No bites! And this is without a bug net.

It was still with virtually no wind, and got down to about 67 or so. I was not cold underneath at all with the double layer. I used an old REI (Nod Pod I think they call it) sleeping bag as an overquilt. I did get a bit chilly with that until I put on a light jacket. The bag is very optimistically rated at 35. It's been ok in a tent with sleeping pad and lots of clothes down to about 45 to 50F.

It's supposed to be cooler this weekend. I'll get out if I can, otherwise, I might set up in the backyard to help reinforce my "crazy neighbor" status.

BTW, this post is sort of moving out of the intro regime. Is there a better section to post threads like this?
