First ever hiking trip. Mornington Peninsula, Victoria Aus

This was my first ever overnight hike carrying a pack and let me just say it was spectacular! We started at Point Napean on Friday where we would start our hike out in the morning. Around Point Napean there is alot of historical interest including many forts from WWII all perched atop of magnificant coastal cliffs with 360° views of the bays. This was my first night sleeping in a hammock and I was pretty comfy. I was however only using a self inflating camping mat so it did slip alot. Temp dropped to about 6°C but I managed to keep warmish lol. I've got my under quilt on order now.

So Sat we started off down the trail for about 10km stopping off at the many lookouts along the way. The vegetation was mainly shrubs with sand underfoot I was getting a bit nervous I would find somewhere to hang for the night. After a 4km beach front walk we reached our stop for the night at Sorrento, we managed to find a quite picnic area to camp but no trees so i just hung up right over the picnic table under the shelter lol.

So Sun it was time to head back to the car and head home. Had an awesome first time hike, learnt a lot and looking forward to heading out again

Yeah that's how I remember it... scrubby! Lovely photo, takes me back (over 25 years). Good memories of surfing that bit of the coast.
Shame I only had a 'fried-up Kombi' not a hammock back then.
