    Marking "Silpoly"

    Hello All,
I am getting all my supplies together for my first project, a Pack cover / gear hammock. It will be made from Silpoly.

My question is what kind of sewing pencil or marker should I look for to mark lines on the silpoly?

    Thanks for your help

DRITZ™ Tailors Chalk... any fabric store. I got a two-pack of blue and white. Works on most everything and wipes right off.

I just use normal chalk but it does rub off a little too easy

I just use a sharpee. On darker fabric, I picked up a silver sharpee. The makrs will smear off a bit due to the water repellency, but it works for me. The marks never too long afterwards. YMMV.

I noticed that a sharpee can bleed through some of the materials. Happened to me on a quilt project.

Not the best way to go but I used a White colored pencil on my GF's blue SilPoly tarp. The marks will eventually wear off but chalk would have worked way better.

I always forget to buy chalk, but want to try it. I've been using the edge of a nearly worn out piece of soap which is a trick my tailor aunt-in-law showed me. Works on pretty much everything except the lightest colors, but does take a few passes on the PU-side of coated fabrics.

I just used a regular ball point pen. Just make sure the line you want is correct.
