Great overnight hang at Lower Forge. We met at Atsion, and placed packs and coolers in the appropriate vehicles. SilentOrpheus, njredneck and I slackpacked six miles into camp, while the others drove to the parking location approx. 1/3 of a mile from Lower Forge.
The hike was hot, but we were able to cool off in the river a couple of times, drink a cold beverage, and drop the core body temperature. When we arrived at camp around 2ish, TheTreeFrog's Accurite thermometer said it was 95* F.
Fallkniven brought his throwing knives, and there were some rather humorous displays of knife-throwing prowess. I'm not naming names. SilentOrpheus and I cooled off in the river (very cold), and then later we took a nap in our hammocks. I don't even like to nap in my hammock, but it was just so hot.
I heard the noises of people making dinner, and could smell it too, so I woke up and woke SilentOrpheus. We had our first round of burgers, lettuce, tomato and onion. Later we had a second round of burgers. Soon after, Krust showed up and we made him a couple of burgers. Later, Brock Leigh showed up and he got a couple of burgers too.
Ratdog passed out in his chair and could not be encouraged to retreat to his hammock. His dog Radar was looking somewhat concerned for Ratdog's safety. We all went to bed, and apparently Ratdog got to his hammock as well.
The overnight low was 57 to 59 * F, depending on which Accurite you believe. It was fine sleeping weather. I woke up around 3 or 4 am and definitely needed to pull my top quilt over me - there was a chill in the air.
In the morning, I was awoken by njredneck, who said, "Coffee is ready." That's all you have to say to me and I'll pop right out of my hammock! Fresh roasted Booskerdoo coffee started my day out right. Silentorpheus was kind enough to panfry the bacon (extra crispy), while monkeynono grilled bacon ends that were extra chewy (but good). We finished off with scrambled eggs, cheese and bacon wrapped in tortillas. There was way too much food, and some of it had to be carried home.
It was a nice little getaway. I suspect that next time we get out, summer will be gone and fall will be here!

Radar was rather angry all weekend. He was especially upset at the sound of my camera.

Maybe he just didn't want his picture taken.

Or maybe I got too close to Krust, with whom Radar seemed to have formed a special bond.
