The XLC will give you a flatter lay if you don't mind the extra bit of weight of the hammock.
I would think you'd be better off if your hammock was a little long rather than short!
XLC in my opinion.
I'm 5' 9" , 190 lbs and got the BlackBird (non XLC) and it's just fine so I'm not sure what I'm missing in the XLC other than some additional weight. I hardly ever use it though as I like my RidgeRunner so much
I'm going XLC , 5'9" 235lb, not so much for capacity as the top cover To me, it adds a extra in capability, plus you can convert it to a traveler if desired as I understand it . I have a double RR w/ a Spindrift for the same reasons
Either will be fine in regards to your height and weight. I would skip the cover and get a sock instead.

Thanks for the advice everyone
I'm 5' 10" 185 lbs. and I have a XLC. It is a very comfortable lay, just be sure when you set it up, the head end is around 18" lower than the foot end. That promotes a very flat lay. The XLC has more mesh than the standard which might promote more air flow. That is just conjecture on my part, I have never slept in the standard BB.
