So I'm thinking I'm a pad guy. It's so much more cushioning than laying straight on the more firm material on the bottom.
All that to say, no matter what your preference may be, the RR is capable of attracting a wide array of folks.
You should give the Lynx full length a try as it's so comfortable and due to it being nearly the same length of the hammock doesn't causing any ridges underneath you. I feel my Lynx make the comfortable hammock even more conformable.

You can always use a pad and the Lynx (when its cold enough to need that much insulation).

I've had the Lynx in my cart a while but just not sure yet. I don't see how it could make it more comfortable besides warming it. I went out today and since the a/c had the temperature around 68 I thought I'd try the exped again. Yes, I find it more comfortable with the exped than without it. That softness is kind of like sleeping in a nice bed but it has a gentle sway.

I wasn't sure if that would be work or not. I was stuck on what temp Lynx to get. I thought if I bought the 20* Lynx then I could use the insulated exped to get a slightly lower temperature??? I'd like to be able to get down to 0*.

Hey you know what they say. HYOH. I tried an air pad and just didn't like the feel nor the noise but as long as it keeps you warm that's all that matters. BTW have you been back out since the Savage Gulf trip? I'm about ready to go again

No I have been a bit busy with the 2 kids but I am also planning a trip out to the AT in a few weeks. It's just too hot to backpack! I'm getting so lazy in my middle age!

Middle age. Funny. Good luck with that AT trip. Looking forward to cooler weather myself.

TrailSlug, is there an UQ that will fit both the RR and a gathered end? I'd like to have one that will do both if it's possible.

With a bit of fiddling around I've used a Snug Pak underblanket with my RR but was not worth the time to attach and adjust each time. But it did insulate well though... It's much easier to hang and adjust a rectangular blanket folded in half.
