Since teaching myself to sew a month ago, I had gone a bit crazy with creating stuff sacks.

I turned some extra of my hammock material into a neck roll. I shoved an old towel inside.

Tried it out for the first time last weekend.

The neck roll needs a bit more girth for me to love it, but it was rather comfy. Definitely as good as anything else I've tried.

I'm still not a fan of how much room it takes up in my bag. I'm thinking of trying foam peanuts instead of a towel next time.

Your probably going to be packing some extra cloths, jacket, etc. just use those to stuff your neck roll. No need to bring the towel unless you would anyway.

Nah, once I figure out exactly how I want something, I don't want it to change. I won't chance the firmness of my neck roll based on what clothing I'm packing.

I picked up an inflatable neck rest from REI last night and gave it a try overnight in the hammock. The removable polyester cover isn't the softest of materials by any means, but it was comfortable overall.

A rolled up T-shirt with elastic bands around each end to hold it together works really well as a neck roll.

About 8 years ago I picked up a cheap little inflatable pillow at Target for $1. One side is the rubbery plastic that inflatable pool toys are made of and the other side is a lot like terry cloth. It's about 8" long and 4 or 5" wide. It deflates and folds up super tiny. I can't believe it's survived all these trips but I'm still using it today (I find that when I sleep in my hammock, all I want is some support under my neck). I have no idea if they still sell them, but it's worth checking out.

    I use this one: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Cocoon-Ai...llow/152209742

I'm not 100% satisfied with it though. Even using the felted side my neck sweats. I've been looking for something more like this McKenzie one that is straight. Might work for me with a cloth (wool?) cover of some sort.
