HammockGear uses less down...?

One thing I can't quite figure out as I'm comparison shopping for UQs. I really like HammockGear's Incubator design, but it seems they use a lot less down than everyone else. How do they do that? It seems everyone is satisfied with their warmth, so what's the difference?

Don't know for sure, but better down perhaps?
100g of 400fill power down holds less warmth than 50g of 900fp down.

No, I'm comparing apples to apples. 800-900 range, with proper adjustments made for who's using exactly what.

They use unique quilt designs (ie foot shelf) and tapering in certain places. That might have something to do with it.

The design makes a difference.
Plenty of winter campers love their HG under quilts.

Yes, you can't beat these quilts and I've never seen a negative review on one of the quilts either. I have two of these and two Locolibre and love them both.

It's thicker from the top down to about your butt, then it gets narrower. I'm guessing that design reduces some down. I always add 1oz overfill just for peace of mind. For $8, I don't think twice about it.

Just for the sake of comparison, I have a new 3-season (20 degree) Wookie XL, with 10 oz. of 800 Active-Dry down and 20.5 total weight.

The 20 degree incubator has 13 ozs. of 850 and weighs 23.5.

I cant say whether this is an apples-to-apples comparison but its' probably close. I think it illustrates that design ahs a whole lot to do with it and so far have nothing but praise for the WB Wookie.
