1.25 mm Z Line Tarp CRL

    Hey all,

I'm interested in making this happen, but haven't really found a significant amount of material on the subject. Hardware eg Dutch tarp worms, figure 9's, nite ize s- carabiners, knots eg prussiks, kleimheist, adjustable grip hitch, taut lines, etc.

    Thanks

I use aluminium KOLAs on my 1.2mm dyneema ridgelines.
    Check my videos.

Gadget, Great videos. When using the 1.2 on the ridge-line and side tie outs does it or has it ever slipped in high winds?
I used some on side tie outs and I could never get it to stay taut using LineLoc's. The fear of this slippage led me to removing the 1.2 and going with a heavier cordage (2.2)

I've used the 1.2 Z cord with the mini line locs that Zpacks sells for it and they've always held when set properly. Regular line locs are too large and will absolutely not hold.

I use the Micro LineLocs you can find at Z-Packs along with their 1.25 mm zline without issue so far.

Yes, that's what I'm using for my guy lines, however, I'm looking to use the 1.25 for my tarp ridgeline too. Looks like Gadget may have a potential solution for me.

    Derek Hansen style CRL,

    Hey Gadget-

I really like what you have going on there for your setup. With the 1.2/1.25, what are you using for prusiks? It sounds like, from the first video, you no longer use a CRL though, is that correct? Do you find it's just that much easier/simpler with the LoopAliens to forego a CRL?

Using the same Dyneema fishing line, have to put more wraps than normal to get it to grip.

Yeah, I find the full length ridgeline unnecessary. The tarp is strong enough to cope on its own, just a unneeded weight and possible entanglement.
The KOLAs make it easy to adjust, especially before you put the locking turns on.

Do you have any experience with Z-Packs 1.25 zline or do you just use the 1.2 dyneeema? Where do you source your 1.2 dyneeema?
