The letters are still used, but some site designations have changed. This is from another forum (posted July 08 2016): "........A new overnight trailhead on Shea Road has been established near the Hope Schoolhouse. The parking area on SR 278 is now for day hiking only. Camp D is now I and H is now P. Out and back, the new section adds about 3 miles to the south loop. ODNR has updated their map: http://forestry.ohiodnr.gov/zaleski"

Seriously? That is going to make getting to camp tough in the winter, with the shorter daylight hours. Is parking still doable on Big Four Road to make site P (old H) easier?

@Slo- I'm packed and ready to go, but still have to see how things go with the contractor. It's likely to be a looong meeting. If you want to PM your cell, I'll text you whether I go or not.

Sorry I missed your post and your question. I'm not sure about additional parking possibilities. I recall reading somewhere that the changes were made in response to both flooding and high demand for parking. One of the old lots, by the furnace I think, is still there, but intended for dayhikers.

The full link from which I got the info is here: http://www.bpo-forum.com/forum/index...ic,1726.0.html

Thanks for the link, Chemguy. I read through it and saw this from BPO.
"... I was surprised to read that the old trailhead is being left open to backpackers. Part of the posting read “This trailhead and parking lot will remain open, but we encourage hikers to begin using the new section of trail…”. The overnight registration box is still there."

Be interesting to see what Slo finds down there.

For everyone heading to Mohican this weekend. I have a large number of small containers (see pic) that I hate to throw out. I get about 2-6 of these every week! If anyone coming to Mohican is interested, I'll bring a bunch along. The 3 sizes are 35 ml, 64 ml, `124 ml.

Very generous of you. If I can locate my old clamshell carrier, I'll bring a dozen fresh eggs with me, to share out. To get eggs any fresher, I'd have to bring a hen along. If anyone would like their very own dozen (or less), let me know. If you can pack them, I'll bring them.

I'm definitely down with fresh egg for breakfast and would take some if any are still around at the end of the weekend. I do have a one dozen clamshell carrier somewhere around the house, and I almost bought a half dozen one just the other week at Cabalas (I may pick that up now). I will bring my 8" frypan, small and light enough to pack but large enough for 3-4 eggs, and I'll bring some bacon to share also. We can do some caveman cooking.

    Hello All,
Just got out of the docs office. He recommends starting off slow so I wont be sleeping overnight. I dont know anything about this campground the doc wants me not to over due it. I was diagnosed with lung cancer, and had the upper lobe on my right side removed. So carring a pack for any long distance is out until the right side heals up some more. Can anyone till me how far of a hike from the parking lot to the campsite? I am now hoping to just hike in for the day or something.

    Thanks

I'm not sure which site they plan on using but I don't think any of them are more than a mile.
