Interested as well - contingent on a planned move getting me there in time.

Hi, I am interested but wondering about what other activities are possible in the area. Are there hiking trails we can access from the campsite, or nearby via boat? Are there fun little coves to explore? How far of a carry is it to the boat launch? The mystery part of it is intriguing, but honestly, if I am going to drive about 6 hours somewhere, I will want to stay for longer than a weekend so knowing where this is will help me determine what else I can do in the area after the hang is over. Thanks, Stacy

tollermama- It's in "deep woods" Maine, but not so far up that you risk catching Canadianism. The result is that you can find just about ANYTHING outdoors-ish to fill an extra couple of days.
The AT is only a few miles away. Heck, you can be DownEast along the coast in 3 hours.

I like deep woods Maine, it's my favorite place can you at least give me an area idea? If it is near Moosehead Lake, or Baxter that would be helpful as I have a few mountains I have to climb in that area for my 50 Finest list. Sounds like a nice place. I am interested.

I really want to hold on to the "mystery factor", tollermama.
Baxter is a long way from anywhere! It's going to take a some time to get there even if you started at Moosehead. Heck, it's a 4-5 hour drive between them on the Golden Road alone.
[As far as I'll go is to say: Baxter and Moosehead are NOT going to be day-hikes from the hang]

Baxter is only about 40 miles from Kakadjo which is only about 15 miles from Greeneville so about 1 1/2 hrs to Baxter. Even taking the Telos road is only about 60 miles or 2 -2 1/5 hrs by vehicle of course.

Hi Stacy, It would be great to see you if you can make it (even as this is beginning to sound a little like Ten Little Indians!).

Thx, Keith. We took two overnights and lots of stops on the Golden Road trip [years ago].
The point is that you can get most cool places with a bit of a drive once you are uppta the woods.

You are right Flash, many times short distances can take a lot longer than expected, as the enjoyment of the trip takes over.

Very interested if there is still room for one more.
Anytime in June works for me. I also have room for one or two people with gear and I could take one additional Kayak.
