    Snakeskins for a Buck?

Way to much time on my hands lately! Was fooling around on the internet yesterday and found this video. A guy takes shower loofah apart and uses them for snakeskins for his tarps and hammocks. They're just a long mesh tube bundled up, take them apart, carefully, and they become skins for $1.00!! I will not admit how much I've spent on skins in the past! Even if this things only last 1 or 2 seasons who can complain for a Buck!

People have done it and it works. It won't last more than a few trips though. A loofah just isn't made to handle that kind of abuse.

They snag and tear on everything they touch. My tarp fleaz make short work of it. Mine only lasted one trip. However I did enjoy the smell of my wife's shampo when I deployed my tarp.

In my opinion 4-6 elastic hair ties are a better cheap solution.

As others said, any little hardware and they are done. I've destroyed two in a month. You'd have to be incredibly careful to not destroy them. I tried putting one inside the other to make it thicker and it didn't work. These do work as snakeskins though and are an awesome option to just try snakeskins and see if you like them. I realized I did like them, even though they fell apart. Therefore, I tried to make my own, but had some sewing machine issues. I then just bought from Kat and those are so awesome, work so good even with hardware and lines.

I switched from Loofah to air ties. I have posted a picture video in the past, so no need to repeat here. However, if learning from others, skip the Loofah's and go with six hair ties; from the start.
