    Small Summer Tarp for Ridgerunner?

Just got my Ridgerunner and it seems like it will deliver the comfort!

I mostly hammock in summer, and when we go the weather forecast is for mild weather and pretty accurate for several days. Seeing how the actual dimensions of the ridgerunner body is roughly a 7' x 3' rectangle, why couldn't I just use a small rectangular tarp, like 10' x 6' that would provide rain coverage over the Ridgerunner body? I could have a string to catch water on the corners of the amsteel "triangle" on each end.

I could also supplement such a tarp with a Spindrift sock for more protection, but I don't know if even that is necessary.

So how about it? Why isn't a tiny light rectangular Ridgerunner tarp for summer a good idea?

That should work just fine as long as the rain isn't blowing.

I use a 10x10 siltarp over my RR and provides good coverage.

That would work fine as long as you don't get big storms, blowing wind, etc. I have used the edge with mine when weather was good good, but coverage was not great or ideal. For the few ounces more I opt for the cloudburst, fits it perfect, the spreader bars match up with the tie outs, and there are rings underneath to attach you bug net. I love the set up of Cloudburst, RidgeRunner, and Lynx, you can't beat the comfort and ease. I have several gathered end hammocks, tarps, etc, and the RR is so comfortable, I am more than willing to carry the extra ounces when backpacking. You can'y beat a good night, no hassle sleep.
