Excellent youtube video. Can you provide a bit more information on the spreader bar materials and design? Thanks.
what aluminum source for the tubes? What size? What are the "tent peg" inserts you used for the ends ands where did you acquire them? Would tent pole material work well or be too flimsy? Would inserting the spreader bar ends into pockets be simpler and then have some sown rings to attach the anti-sway woopie/ground stake attach to be a simpler solution? And lastly, would my ground dwelling border collie be too smart to climb into such a contraption?
- I bought the aluminum tent poles from my local supply store. You can buy them online too. I believe they are .665 poles and they are 13.5" long. There are 4 of them, one male and one female for each side.
- The tent peg inserts can be bought from the same place you buy the tent poles. I believe they are called "pole tips"
- Not sure what you mean by tent pole material. That is what I used, unless you mean something else.
- Pockets could work, however, I wanted something easy to attach the stabilizer system and the underquilt. I like having them all attached to the same peg so that they secure each other.
- Ymmv with your dog. My dog is a german shorthaired pointer and they are among the smartest, most willing to learn breeds on the planet. If you have a tough to train dog, it may take a while to get him/her accustomed to the hammock. My dog learned what I wanted him to do and then learned that it was a comfortable place to be. Has your dog ever been in a boat?
I hope that helps.
This may be the most innovated hammock design I have seen yet, with an effective purpose! And there are an absolutely ton of great and innovated hammock related designs constantly popping up out there and on this forum. That is just too cool. Looks very professional as well. I hope to see some other motivated individual make a go at one.
This is really awesome, bookmarked. My large puppy is a back sleeper, and he would probably i think he'd really find this hammock super comfortable, but he's like 75 pounds that will eventually be 85 so him sleeping in my hammock isn't going to work.

Love the Flying Flea Bag and the video.
My little girl (of the K9 variety) would love such a bed. She is getting older and needs a bit more of the creature comforts. Willow bounces between 99 & 105 lbs. I am guessing the spreader bars would need a bit of added support, do you think I would need heavier suspension?
This is a wonderfully creative solution! I've wanted to start taking my puppy hiking with me, but was struggling with the logistics of keeping her warm and safe. Thanks for such a wonderful idea. Beautiful quality work!
