    MakeYourGear.com - Xenon WIDE!

    XENON WIDE IS HERE!

Coming in at 75 inches (73 usable) wide this is the first of it's kind. It's the widest lightweight waterproof fabric around and we're offering it at a discounted price ($7.00 per yard) for a limited time.

This is a polyester fabric like the rest of our Xenon line and has a silicone/PU coating. It is 20 denier and weighs in at 1.3 ounces per square yard or 2.7 ounces per linear yard. We've started with a great selection of colors too: Black, Coyote Brown, Dark Olive, Burnt Orange, Brilliant Blue, Charcoal Grey, and Forest Green.

With this fabric you can now make an asym tarp with great coverage, use very little fabric, and not have to sew a center seam to make it happen!

This would be great for those who double hang. A 12' wide winter tarp that allows you to raise it up enough to avoid contacting the spreader bar while keeping the sides closer to the ground. Probably a bit heavy and bulky for backpacking though. Could be just the thing for car/motorcycle camping at public campgrounds where you may desire an increased level of privacy. I'm gonna have to make one.

I am hanging under an asymmetric tarp made from one piece of fabric. It is just 10 foot square tarp pulled caddy corner. Weighs about 9 ounces. Since I didn't have to make a center seam I didn't need to seam seal and it took about 2 hours to make it with reinforced tie outs. It only cost about $30 in materials and I have plenty left over for a couple stuff sacks.

Also you could make a tarp that is wider on one side so you have a great wind block on one side and can go porch mode on the other.

    Nice !!

If you could just slice off a chunk, hem the edges and keep the price at $7/yd, that'd be swell.

Seriously though, I'm thinking winter tarp w/ the long walls...sweeeeeet.

I was literally just yesterday kicking around the notion of making an asymmetrical tarp to have a lightweight alternative to my winter beast... Had just about talked myself out of it since none of the vendors offered a wide enough fabric to give me the kind of coverage I was looking for. Then you gotta go and offer the exact thing I needed, and on sale to boot. What psychics do you employ over there?

Do you mean you made a 10X6 rectangular tarp? Or did you sew two pieces together to make it wider?

It is basically a 10×6 rectangle but when you hang it on the diagonal you get better coverage in an asymmetrical shape. It's all out of one piece and you get a Ridgeline about 11.5 ft long and coverage from side to side around 11.5 ft.
