    Continuous loop buries slipping out?

Hi, first post here.. been watching vids and reading, and made a pair of whoopie slings last week.
Today I made a pair of continuous loops, using 1/8 Amsteel, copying this vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcoK...annel=IanYoung
After running the CLs through my hammock's sewn channels, it looks like one of my loops is coming loose. About 1/2" length is showing where the two pieces of rope can be pulled apart (see pic). It's like the buries slid out of the holes. They were tight when I made them, I really pulled on the ends before burying them. Did I bury them wrong? Can this loop still be used like this, if I keep an eye on it? Or should I make another. Thanks.

Hi! I'm not an expert but to me it looks like you have skipped the locked brummel. In that case you need to make stitches instead. The video is excellent so if you follow it correctly everythings gonna be alright. Good luck!

I feel like I missed something too, but I went step by step through the video. If I got lost anywhere, it was right at this point:

After this, he pulls it tight and then buries the ends. If I understand correctly, this is what's happening:

The ends are pulled together before the buries, but I drew it without the ends tightened to show what I'm thinking it happening during the bury. In the vid, he says make the tool come out the same hole the rope went through. Then pull the rope end down through that hole to bury it. To me, this doesn't seem to lock anything. That's why I think I must have missed something.

In the drawing above the running end on the right should be buried to the left and the left running end buried to the right. When finished you should have a ball/knot at the base of the buries.

I'm not sure how much difference it makes, but I believe the tool is not supposed to exit in the same hole as the locked brummel. It should be near it, a bundle or two away. That's the way I do it and I've never had a problem. I learned by watching the same vid.

Not too confident on this recommendation. I had watched a ton of vid before making the first of MANY continuous loops and I have never seen nor heard reference to a ball or knot at the base of the bury. I don't do that and though I won't ever call myself more than a hobbyist, I've never had a CL pull apart.

I'm thinking the OP's bury needs to be longer.

The locked Brummell part prevents the loop from becoming any smaller. The bury prevents it from getting any bigger (and coming apart). Whether you use the same hole for the bury as where the line came through or not shouldn't make too much of a difference except for tidiness.

Are you using the same lengths and measurements as provided in the video? Could it be possible that your bury is not long enough.

Keep trying. It could be a simple oversight. The more you try the more you learn

A correct locked brummel makes a loop that can't be moved in any direction. The loop can't get any larger or any smaller.

Try this tutorial on your next CL https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...-Loop-pictoral

That's how I've always done mine and have yet to have any issues. I find it easier to follow pictures than a video......
