Already converted mine from Gilbert, AZ into an underquilt for my Ridgerunner. 11.3oz in the stuff sack. 68" x 32" rough finished size. Really happy for $20.

I just grabbed a few Costco throws today from the Gilbert store.

I also have a ridgerunner, and want to learn more about what you did and how well it fits.

How did you do it? Looks good. Did you fold it over and double it up? That way, it could be pretty warm.

I removed all the seems that ran the 70in length, leaving only the 60in seams that ran across the width of the quilt. This left me 14 tubes of down running the width of the quilt. I tossed it in the dryer on fluff with a tennis ball for about 20 minutes to attempt to close up the holes from the seams and puff up the down. Then shook the heck out of it to get as much of the down into the part I was going to use as possible. I then sewed a seam at the 32" inch mark and cut off everything else. Couple ribbons on the corners and it fits like a glove. The final size is about 32" x 68". I'm 6'1" and it runs from the middle of my neck to past my toes. I'm hoping it'll be good to 45 since I essentially cut the width of the throw in half but kept all the down.

    abledanger:

How does the 32" width work for the Ridgerunner? I'm more concerned about shoulder coverage than my feet or calves. I'm 6'4" 220.

Does the fact that you crammed the down into a smaller area change anything? Does it have ample room to "fluff" out?
What do you think of just folding the throw and sewing it together|? I want to try and make a throw set up that gets me down to freezing. (I bought six!) It's 700 fill so it will be a little bulky, but a great bang for the bucko.

    Good job!
