$850 to $1,000 for a refurbished industiral Consew or Singer with table and new motor.

I was just curious. Got a Consew in nice shape. Came out of a sewing factory in Giles co. Virginia years ago. I need to learn to sew.

This is just about the exact same machine that I have. The only difference is that the label on the front says Tacsew, instead of Consew.... bet they're made in the same factory. I'll toss a pic in here when I get a chance.

Downside is... it's down. Needs to hit the repair shop after Christmas. I hope there's a good repair shop nearby...

I was given this sewing machine a few weeks ago from someone I've done a lot of work for. It's a white sewing machine and seems pretty nice. All I've made so far with it is a puppet. He's got some eyes now and he's not perfect, just my first practice project. I'm leaving for my thru hike in February, so I'm not going to try to make gear, more puppets, or clothes until after that. Trying to save my money. If I had gotten it earlier this year, I would have probably made some of my gear.

That's why I have a Consew instead of a PFaff. There is a 80 year old, second generation, local family business that takes care of them. They used to provide service to many upholstery and other sewing factories in High Point, NC. When they all moved to Mexico, lots of industrial machines became available. I wouldn't buy one that's not refurbished.

I have to say I love my Pfaff 1229 and 1473cd. They are solid built German machines. I will get a some pictures up here as soon as I can.

One thing that IS weird on both of the machines is that you do not oil them. There is just one little spot down by the bobbin hook that you put a drop every blue moon but that is it.

The 1229 was given to my wife by my always-quilting grandmother and I picked the 1473 up recently on Craigslist for $100...I still have a little trouble sleeping at night when I think about how I practically stole it from the guy. I did give him and extra $20 on the price and told him I was in the holiday spirit.

I will go get some pictures....They might be a little blurry though because they are always in motion these days...
